Dr. Saad Saad has always been passionate about his work and love for children. Furthermore, his deep sense of caring and compassion was deeply instilled in him by his mentor, Dr. H Biemann Othersen, during his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Through him, he learned the importance of hard work, kindness, and honesty. Of equal importance, he was taught that all children are equal no matter who their parents are, what they’re capable of, and what their religion and color are. Dr. Saad Saad also stresses the importance of his values to his medical team and they treat every child that comes into their practice with the respect, compassion, and empathy they would expect their own family to be treated with. Dr. Saad Saad is a Palestinian refugee who was raised in Kuwait with his parents and his 7 brothers and sisters. Oddly enough, he made the decision to go into medicine after watching his engineer brothers work in the sweltering heat in Kuwait as engineers. Even though he originally wanted to be an engineer during his high school years, a big factor in his decision to become a surgeon was his desire to work in an air-conditioned room. Despite being raised an impoverished refugee, he managed to finish medical school at Cairo University in 1971 and has 2 fellowships through the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. He is board certified in pediatric surgery in the United States as well as being accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatric and General Surgery.
